Will Smith To Be Featured As Genie In Aladdin Remake

The classic Disney Movie , Beauty and the beast was a successful hit. But Disney is not stopping there. 

Disney plans to remake many of its modern animated hits into live-action affairs , Starting with"Aladdin" . 

Aladdin is set to begin shooting in August in London. 

Disney has officially announced its Aladdin, Princess Jasmine and Genie for its live-action remake of Aladdin .

Mena Massoud has secured the coveted role of Aladdin, while Scott will be playing Jasmine in the Guy Ritchie-directed Aladdin movie. The announcement came at D23 on Saturday. The duo join the only other talent cast for the Disney musical: Will Smith, who will be playing the Genie.

Will Smith would be following in the large, intimidating footsteps of Robin Williams, whose manic portrayal of the blue-skinned djinn made the character beloved for a whole generation.

Although,  A big name like Smith’s could make Aladdin even more big. 

Disney is currently on the hunt for villain Jafar, who will likely be played by a name actor. Other roles yet to be filled include the Sultan and Jafar's sidekick, Iago.

Other classic animated films, include the upcoming Mulan movie, from director Niki Caro, and Jon Favreau's The Lion King.
